How can we better understand complexity so that we can work with it, rather than get lost in it? On September 18th (18:30-20:30),  the invitation is to dive together into the possibilities offered by Social Network Mapping as a powerful tool to explore the relationships and dynamics that exist within a network or system.

If you are working in the field of social innovation, development or sustainability, chances are you have a pretty good sense of what it means to work in complex systems. Even if you’ve never had anything to do with complexity science, you know that our current global challenges are highly interrelated, that it’s very difficult to predict the exact outcome of an intervention, and that it’s really hard to measure and monitor impact.

How can we better understand this complexity so that we can work with it, rather than get lost in it? One answer is to better understand the underlying dynamics of the system you’re working in. And one way to achieve this is through visualising that system, through social network mapping.

Social network mapping is a powerful tool to explore the relationships and dynamics that exist within a network or system, which are otherwise hidden. We can use it to see who is connected to who, which resources are in the system and where there may be opportunities for innovation and transformation. And this is what we will do on the spot, based on the experiences we gathered during the UN Global Festival of Action and other mapping exercises we conducted.

On September 18th (18:30-20:30) at Social Impact Lab Bonn (Heinemannstr. 34, 53175, Bonn), the invitation is to join us for a two hour exploration of these topics, where we will co-create and play with a live social network map. We will explore how we can combine in person events with digital tools to create more intentional connections which lead to deliberate action, and see how this could be applied to your own system to foster collaboration and drive change.

You can check all the information about upcoming dates and topics by following our Facebook and Meet-up pages.
